Nick Marsden

CTO

Nick has an honours Degree in Computer Aided engineering. After leaving college he worked as a designer for several years in the Rolling Stock industry, Nick then went on to work in the petrochemical industry with Raytheon Constructors and Engineers in Holland where after starting in Engineering took responsibility for the in-house engineering systems and the communication between software vendors and engineers, implementing and deciding on strategy for Raytheon in Holland.

Whilst in Holland he moved to Bentley systems as the support and training manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa and then became the product manager for one of Bentley Systems products namely MicroStation Modeler which was a 3D CAD modelling system. This role was partly based in Holland and the US, and involved Nick in many marketing, sales and strategy decisions for the company. He then worked full time in the US and Japan for Bentley finally retuning to England as the European Marketing Manager & Worldwide Trainer. 

Nick joined the software division of Hewlett Packard in 1997. This role involved Business Development with additional and other aspects such as channel management, partner relationships and key customer engineering support.

In 2003 he started his own IT support and Software business called Sort-IT.

For the past 20+ years he has successfully grown this with customers in most sectors and all over the country. The company concentrates it’s efforts in Support, IT services, Cyber, Software and Communications bridging the gap between what companies need to do to be effective and what IT can now accomplish.

Sort-IT now has offices in Warwick, Windsor and Cambridge with plans to open offices in the north. Nick has also launched several software products and mobile applications which are in use by Trinity Mirror, Liverpool football Club and the RFU to name a few.

Outside of work, Nick has been an Explorer scout leader for 18 years looking after more than 20 scouts from the ages of 13 ½ to 18. As the leader he ensures that they progress through scouting awards up to Queens Scout and is an active supervisor for the DofE Scheme.

He has also represented Warwickshire scouting at Buckingham palace with the gold award and also at Windsor castle for the Queens scout award.  He is also an active member of his local church and local community helping run fund raising for local amenities.
